Islam – The final religion for mankind

Javed Ahmad

The final version of the religion Islam was revealed and completed in Arabia through Prophet Muhammad (S). Islam is a religion that developed throughout the ages and through many different prophets. Initially, all the past versions of Islam were regional in nature minding a part of mankind usually relating to the people who the prophet was representing. But later, the religion was re-compiled as a complete code of law for all of mankind encompassing the globe.

It has had to be completed somewhere. Allah chose to get it done in Arabia through Prophet Muhammad (S). Since the responsibility of spreading the religion was initially bestowed on the Arabs, that is why the Qur’an was revealed in Arabic and the prophet was an Arab from the lineage of the earlier prophets. At the time of revelation of the Qur’an, Arabic was a rich and vibrant language and Arabia is the land where the House of Allah – the Kaaba in Makkah is located. Probably that’s why Allah chose to get the job done at the center of the planet where the first man – Prophet Adam (A) landed. Prophet Adam (A) was a Muslim, meaning a believer.

Since this religion was revealed in Arabia and the residents there were Arabs speaking Arabic and the language of the Qur’an is Arabic, many tends to think that the religion of Islam is meant for the Arabs and for that particular region only just like it was in the earlier religions. In earlier days, different prophets came for their own people, but Prophet Muhammad (S)’s case was different. He was sent not only for the Arabs, but also for all of mankind as well as the jinns.

To prove our point we would go through the verses of the Qur’an that related to mankind as a whole to understand the mystery of it. Our pride, prejudice and racist mindset does not allow us to accept a man from among the Arabs as our own prophet and follow his religion called Islam. But the revelations of the Qur’an help us to believe and accept that we are actually wrong to think so and we are in fact missing out on a true path leading to our God whose name is Allah.

Now let us go through some verses in the Qur’an to discover what it really says on this matter -

“Those who conceal the clear (Signs) We have sent down, and the Guidance, after We have made it clear for the people in the Book,-on them shall be God's curse, and the curse of those entitled to curse,- Except those who repent and make amends and openly declare (the Truth): To them I turn; for I am Oft-returning, Most Merciful. Those who reject Faith, and die rejecting,- on them is God's curse, and the curse of angels, and of all mankind; They will abide therein: Their penalty will not be lightened, nor will respite be their (lot).” (2:159-162).

In the verse above, Allah is warning the people of the book, meaning the Jews and Christians to whom earlier books were revealed (i.e., Torah and Gospel)* not to prevent people from following Islam. He also mentions about the consequences if they do. In other words, Allah is telling us that Islam is for everyone to follow.

“Ramadhan is the (month) in which was sent down the Qur'an, as a guide to mankind, also clear (Signs) for guidance and judgment (Between right and wrong). So every one of you who is present (at his home) during that month should spend it in fasting, but if any one is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed period (Should be made up) by days later. God intends every facility for you; He does not want to put to difficulties. (He wants you) to complete the prescribed period, and to glorify Him in that He has guided you; and perchance ye shall be grateful.” (2:185).

Revelations of the verses of the holy Qur’an began in the month of Ramadan and continued for a long time. Note however, the verse is acknowledging that the Qur’an is a guide to mankind and fasting is prescribed for all!

“Mankind was one single nation, and God sent Messengers with glad tidings and warnings; and with them He sent the Book in truth, to judge between people in matters wherein they differed; but the People of the Book, after the clear Signs came to them, did not differ among themselves, except through selfish contumacy. God by His Grace Guided the believers to the Truth, concerning that wherein they differed. For God guided whom He will to a path that is straight.” (2:213).

Considering Prophet Adam (A) as the first human being and Hawa (A) or Eve as his wife we can accept that all the members of mankind up to our present time and for the future generations are all descedents of their children. Many generations have gone by before ours where many prophets were also sent to guide those generations as well with a book or revelations that may or may not have been written, but are lost today.

“Do not marry unbelieving women (idolaters), until they believe: A slave woman who believes is better than an unbelieving woman, even though she allures you. Nor marry (your girls) to unbelievers until they believe: A man slave who believes is better than an unbeliever, even though he allures you. Unbelievers do (but) beckon you to the Fire. But God beckons by His Grace to the Garden (of bliss) and forgiveness, and makes His Signs clear to mankind: That they may celebrate His praise.” (2:221).

Regardless, as we ourselves witness in our own generations, many refuse to believe in Allah and the after life choosing instead their own personally tailored religions whatever it may be. In the verse above, the instruction of choosing a life partner in marriage, is for all of mankind.

”It is He Who sent down to thee (step by step), in truth, the Book, confirming what went before it; and He sent down the Law (of Moses) and the Gospel (of Jesus) before this, as a guide to mankind, and He sent down the criterion (of judgment between right and wrong).” (3:3).

The Qur’an was revealed in stages – step by step. In this book we find confirmation of all that happened in earlier days. It acknowledges revelations of earlier books, namely the Law (Torah) and the Gospel. Both of which were recorded but only survived for sometime. But this Qur’an now have overshadowed all those old books in order to be taken as a guide for all of mankind.

“"Our Lord! Thou art He that will gather mankind together against a day about which there is no doubt; for God never fails in His promise."” (3:9).

In the above verse Allah is reminding mankind of his promise about the doubtless coming of the Day of reckoning.

“As to those who deny the Signs of God and in defiance of right, slay the prophets, and slay those who teach just dealing with mankind, announce to them a grievous penalty.” (3:21).

There are some people who are not intelligent enough. They fall victim to Satan’s tricks and becomes his worshipper. As a result they defied all rightful deeds and even attempted to kill the prophets – who were the messengers of Allah. In the absence of the prophets the good and faithful believers are now their targets of killing. Allah here is announcing a grievous penalty for their mischief on earth. They may live comfortably on earth as long as they have their set time (i.e., until death catches them). In the other life, Satan is powerless and they will have to face their real Lord for accountabilities of all their actions and activities.

“Ye are the best of peoples, evolved for mankind, enjoining what is right, forbidding what is wrong, and believing in God. If only the People of the Book had faith, it were best for them: among them are some who have faith, but most of them are perverted transgressors.” (3:110).

According to the above verse, Muslims are the ‘best of peoples’ among mankind. And what do they do? They enjoin good and forbid evil by remaining obedient to Allah. Those members of mankind who adhere to their old and rejected religion are also capable to recognize the real Muslims and support them as their goals are the same. But unfortunately, most of them are ‘perverted transgressors’ as most of them have fallen victim to Satan.

“And remember God took a covenant from the People of the Book, to make it known and clear to mankind, and not to hide it; but they threw it away behind their backs, and purchased with it some miserable gain! And vile was the bargain they made!” (3:187).

Before Islam, Allah did take a covenant from the People of the Book to uphold justice and peace, but they failed to do their job and took their religion as controlling tool by playing hide and seek with people.

“O mankind! Reverence your Guardian-Lord, who created you from a single person, created, of like nature, His mate, and from them twain scattered (like seeds) countless men and women;- reverence God, through whom ye demand your mutual (rights), and (reverence) the wombs (That bore you): for God ever watches over you.” (4:1).

In the above verse Allah is revealing the science of creation of human being reminding us again that we are all off-springs of the original couple Adam and Eve. However, one important matter to note here is the mention of ‘single person’ indicating that Adam (A) was created first and then his mate Eve and none of them had any parents. In other words, they were created as complete human beings of adult age. This shows that Allah is capable of creating anything at will. Therefore, it would not be a difficult task for him to re-create us if he wishes.

“Whatever good, (O man!) happens to thee, is from God; but whatever evil happens to thee, is from thy (own) soul. and We have sent thee as an apostle to (instruct) mankind. And enough is God for a witness.” (4:79).

This verse clarifies our fate. Allah is explaining the good things happen to us because of His Will, and bad or wrong things happens to us due to our own wrong decisions and doings. Therefore, the Prophet (S) has been sent to mankind with instructions through the Qur’an and Sunnah so that we can take the right decisions to avoid bad or wrong doings. Note that the ‘message or instruction’ is meant for ‘mankind’ and not just for Arabs.

“If it were His will, He could destroy you, o mankind, and create another race; for He hath power this to do.” (4:133).

In this verse Allah is blunter about His might and power. Here He is declaring that he is capable of destroying mankind and can create another race. But He will put up with our nonsense until the appointed time to keep His promise. Therefore, everything that He has taught us or told us will come to pass.

“Apostles who gave good news as well as warning, that mankind, after (the coming) of the apostles, should have no plea against God: For God is Exalted in Power, Wise.” (4:165).

Sending apostles was part of an effort from Allah to keep mankind on track under some guidance so that the people had no way to accuse Him on the ground the He left his creation in the dark.

“O Mankind! The Apostle hath come to you in truth from God: believe in him: It is best for you. But if ye reject Faith, to God belong all things in the heavens and on earth: And God is All-knowing, All-wise.” (4:170).

Here Allah is re-assuring that all the apostles who came among us were true representatives of Allah giving us glad tidings as well as warnings. Therefore, we should believe in them all. Fortunately, a believer (i.e., a Muslim) does not distinguish between the apostles or prophets and believes in them all. For instance, we believe in Moses (A) as well as Issa (A) as true prophets of Allah – who were basically sent for the Israelites.

“O mankind! Verily there hath come to you a convincing proof from your Lord: For We have sent unto you a light (that is) manifest.” (4:174).

What ‘convincing proof’ is Allah referring to here? It is the Qur’an that He is referring to, which is like a ‘light’ or guidance to us confirming all that has happened in earlier days.

“On that account: We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people. Then although there came to them Our apostles with clear signs, yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the land.” (5:32).

Disobedient nature of the children of Israel is reflected in the above verse. Even after receiving many apostles with ‘clear signs’ yet they continued to ‘commit excesses’. In the same verse, the magnanimity of Islam as a true universal religion is reflected when Allah is saying if a single person is slain for no reason it is like slaying the whole of mankind. Similarly, when a life is saved it is like saving the life of all mankind. How beautiful!

“A.L.R. These are the ayats of the Book of Wisdom. Is it a matter of wonderment to men that We have sent Our inspiration to a man from among themselves?- that he should warn mankind (of their danger), and give the good news to the Believers that they have before their Lord the lofty rank of truth. (But) say the Unbelievers: "This is indeed an evident sorcerer!"” (10:1-2).

Despite all the good words that is contained in the Qur’an and all the beautiful wisdom, the unbelievers still look at this book in doubts and call the Prophet (S) a magician simply because they are unable to explain the reasons for its beauty.

“Mankind was but one nation, but differed (later). Had it not been for a word that went forth before from thy Lord, their differences would have been settled between them.” (10:19).

If we are all descendents from common parents then indeed we were a single nation at the beginning. Since Allah has already decided on the matter, that is why the differences are not settled.

“But when he delivereth them, behold! They transgress insolently through the earth in defiance of right! O mankind! Your insolence is against your own souls,- an enjoyment of the life of the present: in the end, to Us is your return, and We shall show you the truth of all that ye did.” (10:23).

Disbelievers will miss out on the wonders of after life as they like this physical world more than the other world and as they simply refuse to believe in its existence. But when they die they will witness everything that they so vehemently disbelieved.

“O mankind! There hath come to you a direction from your Lord and a healing for the (diseases) in your hearts,- and for those who believe, a guidance and a Mercy.” (10:57).

The holy Qur’an has been sent to mankind as ‘healing for all diseases in our hearts’ to ward off the inspirations of Satan. This book brings peace and tranquility in the hearts of a believer knowing that this is the ultimate guidance for them that would lead to Allah’s mercy.

“And what think those who invent lies against God, of the Day of Judgment? Verily God is full of bounty to mankind, but most of them are ungrateful.” (10:60).

It is interesting to note that Allah is asking a question about what is on in the minds of the disbelievers knowing fully what they think when they rebel. But it seems to be that the matter is thrown at the reader of the Qur’an to ponder on the logic that could lead them to such a conclusion. Quite frankly, it baffles me. What is in the Qur’an that they disbelieve? How can one disbelieve in a book that is so logical and so true in its contents? Is it because of their limited IQ that fails them to understand so they defy?

“In whatever business thou mayest be, and whatever portion thou mayest be reciting from the Qur'an,- and whatever deed ye (mankind) may be doing,- We are witnesses thereof when ye are deeply engrossed therein. Nor is hidden from thy Lord (so much as) the weight of an atom on the earth or in heaven. And not the least and not the greatest of these things but are recorded in a clear record.” (10:61).

The mechanism of record keeping called the ‘clear record’ has been explained here. Big and small – all kind of activities are being continuously recorded by the messengers (i.e., the angels). These recordings will one day be used against us to accuse or to seek explanation of our actions in order to judge us individually. Imagine the situation of recording all the daily events in our life in minute details in a central storage somewhere in the universe through invisible cameras around us. Very little do we know about the usefulness of energy that surrounds us all the time. The situation is like the movie Avatar where the earthlings (the sky people) invade a planet to loot resources displacing the indigenous beings living there disrupting their peace and tranquility. Eventually, the energy force of the planet backed the inhabitants of the planet to fight and win against the invaders. The same arrogance is displayed by some earthlings here on earth against other earthlings displaying untold pride and prejudices.

“"This day shall We save thee in the body, that thou mayest be a sign to those who come after thee! But verily, many among mankind are heedless of Our Signs!"” (10:92).

Many of the mummified bodies of the Pharaohs have been discovered so far including the one referred above verse. But how many of us take this discovery seriously? Indeed the disbelievers are ‘heedless’ of the ‘signs’.

“If it had been thy Lord's will, they would all have believed,- all who are on earth! Wilt thou then compel mankind, against their will, to believe!” (10:99).

Here is another fantastic verse. In this verse Allah is declaring that if He willed He could have made everyone on earth to believe in Him. But then He is asking us would that be a fair thing to do? To make someone to believe where he or she is not willing? Thus the mastery of the minds is left open for play the game of believing and disbelieving based on intelligence, merit and free will. Indeed, Allah is a just Lord!

“In that is a Sign for those who fear the penalty of the Hereafter: that is a Day for which mankind will be gathered together: that will be a Day of Testimony. Nor shall We delay it but for a term appointed.” (11:103-104).

The intelligent folks take the signs of Allah seriously to strengthen their belief in Allah and prepare for the Day of Testimony. And then there are others who are unmindful of the signs that are discovered confirming the truth of the Qur’an. Regardless, the appointed time for the Day of Reckoning would not change.

“If thy Lord had so willed, He could have made mankind one people: but they will not cease to dispute.” (011.118).

This verse is an acknowledgement that Allah could have made the entire mankind ‘one people’ living under a single bond, culture and language. But He is certain that it would not have done any good – they would still quarrel with each other just like we see this happening among the folks of our own people. Therefore, the introduction of race and difference among us is intentional so that we could take interest in each other and know or recognize each other. The cultural diversity around the world has indeed made the world even more interesting.

“If thou dost marvel (at their want of faith), strange is their saying: "When we are (actually) dust, shall we indeed then be in a creation renewed?" They are those who deny their Lord! They are those round whose necks will be yokes (of servitude): they will be Companions of the Fire, to dwell therein (for aye)! They ask thee to hasten on the evil in preference to the good:  Yet have come to pass, before them, (many) exemplary punishments! But verily thy Lord is full of forgiveness for mankind for their wrong-doing, and verily thy Lord is (also) strict in punishment.” (13:5-6).

Faith in Allah should be free from all doubts. Otherwise it would be hypocrisy. Allah does not like the hypocrites.

“If there were a Qur'an with which mountains were moved, or the earth were cloven asunder, or the dead were made to speak, (this would be the one!) But, truly, the command is with God in all things! Do not the Believers know, that, had God (so) willed, He could have guided all mankind (to the right)? But the Unbelievers,- never will disaster cease to seize them for their (ill) deeds, or to settle close to their homes, until the promise of God come to pass, for, verily, God will not fail in His promise.” (13:31).

In the above verse Allah is revealing the actual weight and magnitude of the Qur’an in terms of importance. It is a natural tendency for all creations of Allah to obey Him as His commands are pre-installed. Again He is reminding the believers that if He willed He could have made everyone Muslims. But that would not be fair to all people with free intellect and understanding. Therefore, there will always be some among us who would not be able to understand the truth using their intellect and understanding till the End Days.

“A. L. R. A Book which We have revealed unto thee, in order that thou mightest lead mankind out of the depths of darkness into light - by the leave of their Lord - to the Way of (Him) the Exalted in power, worthy of all praise!- Of God, to Whom do belong all things in the heavens and on earth! But alas for the Unbelievers for a terrible penalty (their Unfaith will bring them)!- Those who love the life of this world more than the Hereafter, who hinder (men) from the Path of God and seek therein something crooked: they are astray by a long distance.” (14:1-3).

All prophets came to this world as messengers so did our Prophet (S) with the Qur’an as a guide to leave behind for mankind to read and follow. Following the Qur’an would bring a believer closer to the Lord Almighty Allah. Sadly however, some will not follow the Qur’an and try to prevent others from following it thus resulting in ending up in hell for punishments.

“So warn mankind of the Day when the Wrath will reach them: then will the wrong-doers say: "Our Lord! respite us (if only)  for a short term: we will answer Thy call, and follow the apostles!" "What! were ye not wont to swear aforetime that ye should suffer no decline?” (14:44).

Therefore, the warning is for all of mankind not just for the Arabs about the Day. No respite will be given to the disbelievers even for a short term to make up the losses. Their faith at this point would not be accepted just like it was not accepted of the Pharaoh when he declared faith at the last moment at the time of drowning.

“Here is a Message for mankind: Let them take warning there from, and let them know that He is (no other than) One God: let men of understanding take heed.” (14:52).

This is one of the core messages of Islam that Allah is one and only. All the prophets who came to mankind delivered the same message, but Satan waylaid many of them to worship idols and imaginary gods thus committing blasphemy, which is a serious sin. I have added a link below to one of my articles “Faith, Logic and the Truth” where I have tried to explain existence of Allah using our present day knowledge in science. Read it at your convenience.

“They swear their strongest oaths by God, that God will not raise up those who die: Nay, but it is a promise (binding) on Him in truth: but most among mankind realize it not. (They must be raised up), in order that He may manifest to them the truth of that wherein they differ, and that the rejecters of Truth may realize that they had indeed (surrendered to) Falsehood. For to anything which We have willed, We but say the word, "Be", and it is.” (016.038-40).

Since Allah has been challenged by His creations that He would not be able to raise the dead when they turn into dust, Allah is determined to perform this miracle by willing it to happen to prove them wrong and to get them to realize that they were wrong all along. Frankly, I do not understand why the disbelievers argue on this matter at all. For a Lord who is capable of creating beings and matter out of nothing could indeed re-create humans at will. If we can create clones through genetic transplants and manipulations, then why are we failing to understand that for Allah it is easy? I think the fact is, the disbelievers deceive themselves by not believing in life after death as they fear that all their ill doings will surface and they would be trouble. Yes, they would be trouble for all their misdeeds on earth. So, what’s the point in disbelieving it? Will their disbelief change their fate? Is it not better if they just change and become good and do well? They need to come out their self-mockery.

“Behold! We told thee that thy Lord doth encompass mankind round about: We granted the vision which We showed thee, but as a trial for men,- as also the Cursed Tree (mentioned) in the Qur'an:  We put terror (and warning) into them, but it only increases their inordinate transgression! Behold! We said to the angels: "Bow down unto Adam": They bowed down except Iblis: He said, "Shall I bow down to one whom Thou didst create from clay?" He said: "Seest Thou? this is the one whom Thou hast honoured above me! If Thou wilt but respite me to the Day of Judgment, I will surely bring his descendants under my sway - all but a few!" (God) said: "Go thy way; if any of them follow thee, verily Hell will be the recompense of you (all)- an ample recompense. "Lead to destruction those whom thou canst among them, with thy (seductive) voice; make assaults on them with thy cavalry and thy infantry; mutually share with them wealth and children; and make promises to them." But Satan promises them nothing but deceit. "As for My servants, no authority shalt thou have over them:" Enough is thy Lord for a Disposer of affairs.” (17:60-65).

Not just the Arabs, all members of mankind regardless of their religious beliefs are encompassed by Allah’s grace whether they acknowledge it or not. It was our common parents who had fallen victim of the trick to Satan whose pride and prejudice prevented him in acknowledging that man is better than him. Thus the competition began between him and mankind. Unfortunately, despite all the warnings, parts of mankind continue to fall into his traps and lose out on mercy of Allah. However, there will always be a group who will not fall into Satan’s tricks. We should all try to be a part of the winning group.

“Say: "If the whole of mankind and Jinns were to gather together to produce the like of this Qur'an, they could not produce the like thereof, even if they backed up each other with help and support.” (17:088).

Here is an open challenge from Allah to mankind, not just the Arabs to try to produce a book like the Qur’an. So far, no one has succeeded and no one will. The interesting fact about the Qur’an is, when one reads it, he or she will notice that it is not a focused book. Unlike the books we author on a particular subject staying focused on the subject matter, the Qur’an is quite the contrary. The wisdom of the Qur’an is mostly unfocused and random in nature. It clearly gives the reader a feeling that someone who is totally familiar with the past-present and the future is talking and telling the stories. References are drawn from different time and generations to make a point and to explain a matter that only someone who knows the details can do. Reader of the Qur’an unlocks the idea called “time” and ventures randomly between the time barriers in the past, present and the future in a breeze without choking with the enormous information showered. This fact alone convinces a reader that this Qur’an is not a book by any mortal rather it is authored by someone who knows no time, who was always present witnessing all that has happened happens, is happening and will happen. And that ‘someone’ is none but Allah Himself.

“We have explained in detail in this Qur'an, for the benefit of mankind, every kind of similitude: but man is, in most things, contentious.” (18:54).

This book Qur’an is like a constitution for a Muslim taking lessons to live an Islamic way of life for safety and assurance. The book is not only for the Arabs, but for all of mankind. It carries all kind of knowledge and information in detail, but only a few take the time to read and reflect.

“Closer and closer to mankind comes their Reckoning: yet they heed not and they turn away.” (21:1).

The exact date and time of the Day of Reckoning is hidden and have not been revealed by Allah. Chances are it will come to us as a surprise without any prior warning. However, some signs of the Last Day have been foretold for us to take notice and prepare for it. But alas, many do not take heed and continue to turn away from truth.

“O mankind! Fear your Lord! For the convulsion of the Hour (of Judgment) will be a thing terrible! The Day ye shall see it, every mother giving suck shall forget her suckling- babe, and every pregnant female shall drop her load (unformed): thou shalt see mankind as in a drunken riot, yet not drunk: but dreadful will be the Wrath of God.” (22:1-2).

Here is a scenario given to us about what it would be like when the Hour will come. From this verse we can now be certain that it will come suddenly and unexpectedly and that is why the date and time has been kept secret. We are indeed getting closer to the Day as the time passes.

O mankind! If ye have a doubt about the Resurrection, (consider) that We created you out of dust, then out of sperm, then out of a leech-like clot, then out of a morsel of flesh, partly formed and partly unformed, in order that We may manifest (our power) to you; and We cause whom We will to rest in the wombs for an appointed term, then do We bring you out as babes, then (foster you) that ye may reach your age of full strength; and some of you are called to die, and some are sent back to the feeblest old age, so that they know nothing after having known (much), and (further), thou seest the earth barren and lifeless, but when We pour down rain on it, it is stirred (to life), it swells, and it puts forth every kind of beautiful growth (in pairs). This is so, because God is the Reality: it is He Who gives life to the dead, and it is He Who has power over all things. And verily the Hour will come: there can be no doubt about it, or about (the fact) that God will raise up all who are in the graves.” (22:5-7).

Although Allah is capable to create mankind at will as He did with Adam (A) and Eve, but He did not create their offspring in that manner. His method of re-creation of human beings now follows a process that is explained in the above verse and confirmed by the present day medical science as accurately described. Visit the link at the reference below called “The Quran on Human Embryonic Development” for more details.

“Seest thou not that to God bow down in worship all things that are in the heavens and on earth,- the sun, the moon, the stars; the hills, the trees, the animals; and a great number among mankind? But a great number are (also) such as are fit for Punishment: and such as God shall disgrace,- None can raise to honour: for God carries out all that He wills.” (22:18).

Now here is a hidden mystery revealed when Allah says that everything in the heaven and earth bows to Allah in worship that we do not actually see in our naked physical eyes. Not just mankind alone, but there are stories that people with higher level of faith do see other creation bow to Allah in worship. There are stories that some saints have witnessed the trees bowing down in worship on the nights of Shab-e-Miraz and Qadr. However, He also acknowledges with concern that a vast number of mankind do not.

“O ye who believe! Bow down, prostrate yourselves, and adore your Lord; and do good; that ye may prosper. And strive in His cause as ye ought to strive, (with sincerity and under discipline). He has chosen you, and has imposed no difficulties on you in religion; it is the cult of your father Abraham. It is He Who has named you Muslims, both before and in this (Revelation); that the Apostle may be a witness for you, and ye be witnesses for mankind! So establish regular Prayer, give regular Charity, and hold fast to God! He is your Protector - the Best to protect and the Best to help!” (22:77-78).

This verse points to some important information. Other than commanding mankind to obey Allah for peace and prosperity by following the religion that came down to us originally from our father Abraham (A); he is also revealing that the name of His followers, namely, “Muslim” is not new. The earlier day followers were also called Muslims, which basically mean one who submits self to Allah in worship establishing regular prayers and charity, and hold fast to the rope of Allah in all situations. One who does this is a Muslim by definition.

“And the people of Noah,- when they rejected the apostles, We drowned them, and We made them as a Sign for mankind; and We have prepared for (all) wrong-doers a grievous Penalty;- As also 'Ad and Thamud, and the Companions of the Rass, and many a generation between them. To each one We set forth Parables and examples; and each one We broke to utter annihilation (for their sins).” (25:37-39).

This verse is about the great flood during the time of Prophet Noah (A). The interesting matter to note though that here too Allah is indicating that it is also a ‘sign for mankind’. The sign is probably about the discovery of the ark. See the report link added below in the reference part called “Noah's Ark discovered in the Mountains of Ararat”. References of this story are also found in other scriptures other than the Qur’an.

“And when the Word is fulfilled against them (the unjust), we shall produce from the earth a beast to (face) them: He will speak to them, for that mankind did not believe with assurance in Our Signs.” (27:82).

This verse is about a prediction to happen at the time appointed when a beast or animal will appear that will speak to people probably mainly to the disbelievers in order to convince them that Allah’s ‘words’ or promises are true. This event might trigger many to come under the fold of Islam. A believer does not seek miracle to believe in Allah, it is the disbelievers who do seek them and yet they continue to disbelieve.

“Verily God doth know of (every thing) whatever that they call upon besides Him: and He is Exalted (in power), Wise. And such are the Parables We set forth for mankind, but only those understand them who have knowledge.” (29:42-43).

It is not a matter of comfort for Allah to see that His creations call upon other imaginary deities other than Allah the true and only Lord. He is so concerned about the group of mankind that would fall victim to Satan’s whispers and lose track of truth ultimately facing His wrath and anger that He is very reluctant to show. He expects that all people understand the message and return to Him in obedience and save them. He is truly loving and merciful and that is why He is so concerned.

“So set thou thy face steadily and truly to the Faith: (establish) God's handiwork according to the pattern on which He has made mankind: no change (let there be) in the work (wrought) by God: that is the standard Religion: but most among mankind understand not. Turn ye back in repentance to Him, and fear Him: establish regular prayers, and be not ye among those who join gods with God,- Those who split up their Religion, and become (mere) Sects,- each party rejoicing in that which is with itself!” (30:30-32).

Allah has made Islam as the standard religion for all of mankind to be followed with sincerity without making any changes to it. He is calling everyone to turn to Him by accepting this religion and not break into sects. Unfortunately, this is exactly what we are witnessing in today’s world. Islam itself has broken into different sects by adopting changes and modifications without paying any attention to Allah’s warnings. Two references are added in the reference part "73 Divisions in Islam and One True Jama'at", “Sects of Islam" and “Are there sects in Islam? Sunni, Shia, Shafi, Wahaabi, Hanafi?” that one could explore how the sects have been created and what they have to say about it. Islam need to be practiced just the way it is without any modifications and changes.

“O mankind! Do your duty to your Lord, and fear (the coming of) a Day when no father can avail aught for his son, nor a son avail aught for his father. Verily, the promise of God is true: let not then this present life deceive you, nor let the chief Deceiver deceive you about God. Verily the knowledge of the Hour is with God (alone). It is He Who sends down rain, and He Who knows what is in the wombs. Nor does any one know what it is that he will earn on the morrow: Nor does any one know in what land he is to die. Verily with God is full knowledge and He is acquainted (with all things).” (31:33-34).

This verse pretty much summarizes what we have discussed so far. The new information that is present here is about the Day when no one would be in a position to help each other or even recognize one another – even the father and son would not be able to care for on that day. We have already noticed from our discussion so far that many of Allah’s promises have already come true and there are few more predictions that will happen in the future. Therefore, we have no reason anymore to disbelieve His words when He is promising about the trial and tribulation of the coming Day of Judgment – this too will happen.

“Praise be to God, Who created (out of nothing) the heavens and the earth, Who made the angels, messengers with wings,- two, or three, or four (pairs): He adds to Creation as He pleases: for God has power over all things. What God out of his Mercy doth bestow on mankind there is none can withhold: what He doth withhold, there is none can grant, apart from Him: and He is the Exalted in Power, full of Wisdom. O men! Call to mind the grace of God unto you! Is there a creator, other than God, to give you sustenance from heaven or earth? There is no god but He: how then are ye deluded away from the Truth?” (35:1-3).

It is because of Allah’s mercy we exist and are alive. He creates whatever He wills and keeps adding His creations out of nothing. He describes the creations of the angels as messengers with pair of wings – two, three and four just like we seen in the TV cartoons. In other words, since they have wings, they must be flying messengers. But how do they fly through the universe when there is no air and totally vacuum? Well, if Superman can fly in space where there is no air without any space suit and oxygen cylinders then why can’t the angels? In other references we find that the angels are made of light; therefore, it might be possible for them to travel great distances at great speeds! Something our science is yet to discover and understand.

“Verily We have revealed the Book to thee in Truth, for (instructing) mankind. He, then, that receives guidance benefits his own soul: but he that strays injures his own soul. Nor art thou set over them to dispose of their affairs. It is God that takes the souls (of men) at death; and those that die not (He takes) during their sleep: those on whom He has passed the decree of death, He keeps back (from returning to life), but the rest He sends (to their bodies) for a term appointed verily in this are Signs for those who reflect. What! Do they take for intercessors others besides God? Say: "Even if they have no power whatever and no intelligence?" Say: "To God belongs exclusively (the right to grant) intercession: to Him belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth: In the End, it is to Him that ye shall be brought back." When God, the One and Only, is mentioned, the hearts of those who believe not in the Hereafter are filled with disgust and horror; but when (gods) other than He are mentioned, behold, they are filled with joy!” (39:41-45).

We should have no problem accepting the Qur’an as the book of truth if we find the contents to be logically and scientifically sound and if we see that predictions have either come true or are likely to come true. Therefore, if the Qur’an is true then all the information therein is also true. So, doesn’t it make sense to follow a true book for safety and prosperity? Is any other Book other than the Qur’an absolutely true for all times? When the Qur’an is capable of meeting our needs then do we need to hold on to older scriptures that are contaminated? Is it safe to follow the old books when we have the Qur’an? In the above verses Allah is talking about sleep and death saying that sleep is a kind of temporary death while death is a final one. This too according to Him is a sign for mankind to reflect on. So why worship anything other than Allah when He is so true in His revelations so much alive and full of intelligence?

“And when mankind are gathered together (at the Resurrection), they will be hostile to them and reject their worship (altogether)!” (46:6).

The disbelievers will see nothing but hostility in after life for rejecting the truth and denying the Day of Resurrection.

“O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise (each other). Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of God is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And God has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things).” (49:13).

That single pair is the Adam (A) and Hawa (Eve). The main purpose of creation of nations and tribes is meant for knowing each other for the differences we have and not to fight with each other. The noblest person in the sight of Allah is the one who is the most righteous and pious among us. Would not it be nice if we all followed the same religion Islam worshipping the same God – Allah declaring solidarity and a common bonding and belonging to mankind?

“We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, and the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed to powder at one stroke,- On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. And the sky will be rent asunder, for it will that Day be flimsy, And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!"” (69:11-20).

Noah’s flood has been referred here as a sign for mankind to remember on how one part of mankind was saved and how another part was destroyed. By the same token the Day of Judgment will also come through a blowing of a trumpet by Angel Israfil (A), on that day all the records of an individual will be shown in minute details.

“Say: It has been revealed to me that a company of Jinns listened (to the Qur'an). They said, 'We have really heard a wonderful Recital! 'It gives guidance to the Right, and we have believed therein: we shall not join (in worship) any (gods) with our Lord. 'And Exalted is the Majesty of our Lord: He has taken neither a wife nor a son. 'There were some foolish ones among us, who used to utter extravagant lies against God; 'But we do think that no man or spirit should say aught that untrue against God. 'True, there were persons among mankind who took shelter with persons among the Jinns, but they increased them in folly.” (72:1-6).

Allah is revealing a secret of the unseen world of the Jinns who have accepted Islam as their way of life. There are some references of the Jinn race in parallel to mankind throughout the Qur’an indicating that Islam is a religion for both the mankind and jinns. Jinns are the invisible being living alongside with mankind on earth – ”And the Jinn race, We had created before, from the fire of a scorching wind.” (15:27). It is important to note here that Satan or Iblis is a member of this jinn race. He did become the leader of the angels through the power of his worship of Allah where he remained until he refused to obey Allah’s command to bow to Adam (A) who was made out of clay – “We created man from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape;…” (15:26). Another crucial information has been revealed to us which is, some members of mankind fall into the traps of some jinns. Therefore, jinns are capable of interfering in human life.

“Over it are Nineteen. And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts  is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth God intend by this ?" Thus doth God leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind.” (74:30-31).

Apart from witnessing the Day of Judgment, the disbelievers will also see the fulfillment of another prophecy about the nineteen angles guarding the hell fire. Chances are this information was also revealed in earlier scriptures that are yet to be discovered by us, which will increase the faith of the believers when discovered. The mystery of this “19” is yet to unfold. However, there are some explanations to this mystery, and one of them being – Each and every verse in the Qur’an begins with “Bis’millah’hir’rahmanir’raheem”, which contains 19 Arabic alphabets.

And then there is a numerological explanation of Dr. Rashad Khalifa** and Ahmed Deedat. Visit the links given in the reference section on this subject.

“A warning to mankind,- To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds.”” (74:36-38).

So you see, the warning here is to mankind and not to the Arabs. Every member of mankind will be held responsible for their deeds on earth on the Day of Judgment. No matter under which culture, religion or environment one is born, Islam is the recommended religion and a way of life for all that could lead to salvation. Everything else is false and corrupted and no longer credible to guide anyone anymore.

“Woe to those that deal in fraud,- Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. Do they not think that they will be called to account?- On a Mighty Day, A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? Day! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. Woe, that Day, to those that deny- Those that deny the Day of Judgment.” (83:1-11),

Here again is the mention of ‘mankind’ facing the Lord for their wickedness and fraud that they used to do on earth in trades and businesses with measurements. We are also introduced to Sijjin where the records are kept.

A chapter (#114) called “Mankind”, which is the last chapter of the holy Qur’an is dedicated to mankind summarizing the entire Quranic message, which says the following –

Say: I seek refuge with the Lord and Cherisher of Mankind, The King (or Ruler) of Mankind, The God (for judge) of Mankind,- From the mischief of the Whisperer (of Evil), who withdraws (after his whisper),- (The same) who whispers into the hearts of Mankind,- Among Jinns and among men.” (114.001-6).

Therefore, the message of the Qur’an is for entire mankind and not just for the Arabs alone. Would you not get a copy of the Qur’an in your mother tongue (many soft copies of the translated Qur’an are available on the Internet for free downloads) to read and learn for yourself instead of being misguided by the priests, rabbis and pundits? Welcome to Islam – the final religion for mankind!

End of article.

* Today's Bible contains the Old Testament and the New Testament. It contains a total of 66 books. However, the Roman Catholic version contains 7 more books called the Apocrypha or the doubtful books. Old Testament is followed by the Jews, along with Talmud and other scriptures. Both Old and New Testaments are used by the Christians. Old Testament contains 39 books. The first 5 books are called the Torah (Taurat). It is also called Pentateuch. Some scholars include the 6th book (Joshua) and call it Hexateuch. The rest of the 33 books are from other Hebrew prophets. New Testament contains 27 books. The first 4 books are the 4 versions of the Gospel (Injeel). The rest are from the disciples of Jesus.

** He sold the idea that the time of the Prophet (S) ended after 1400 years. Now is the time of scientific approach to the Qur’an, of complex calculations etc. He was killed in the US. He has left behind a following of weird people, mainly converts and pseudo Muslims. Ahmed Deedat was caught up in his theory of 19. When he came to know Rashad Khalifa’s real intentions, he denounced the theory of 19, and never spoke again on the subject.
