Difference between a believer and a disbeliever:

The points mentioned below are based on the condition that the Muslims are living in an Islamic environment with freedom to practice Islam as per Shariah. Muslims living in a secular society may not realize or witness all the benefits and features of Islam mentioned. Similarly, the points on the disbeliever part are based on common observation of the Western societies as well as some non-Western non-Muslim societies.

Sl. #

Believer (Muslim)

Disbeliever (Non-Muslim)

1

Believes in One God – Allah by declaration of faith – “There is no God but Allah and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.” All life activities are centered on fear of Allah and pleasing Him through proper and prescribed worship.

May or may not believe in god. Those who believe usually believe in more than one god. But this belief in god does not play in role in their life. Fear of god is pretty much absent.

2

Believe in afterlife and eternity, therefore believes in resurrection and day of judgment. “The life of this world is alluring to those who reject faith, and they scoff at those who believe. But the righteous will be above them on the Day of Resurrection; for God bestows His abundance without measure on whom He will.” (TQM 2:212).

May or may not believe in afterlife. Most do not believe in resurrection or day of judgment. Thus considers this life as the “only” life and there is no continuation of life in eternity.

3

Believes in unseen world of angles and jinns. “There is no god but He: That is the witness of God, His angels, and those endued with knowledge, standing firm on justice. There is no god but He, the Exalted in Power, the Wise (TQM 3:18)…. And the Jinn race, We had created before, from the fire of a scorching wind.”(TQM 15:27).

Some believe in angels (e.g., cupids) and ghosts or spirits and fantasize about them like the old pagan mythologies.

4

Believes mankind is created to worship Allah in this world, therefore observes the five pillars of Islam – five daily prayers, fasting in the month of Ramadan, once in a lifetime pilgrimage to Makkah, offering compulsory poor due or zakat for purification of wealth. “I have only created Jinns and men, that they may serve Me.”(TQM 51:56).

Some goes to their churches, synagogues and / or temples once a week. Mostly indulge in worldly affairs for lack of belief in afterlife and accountability to god in the hereafter.

5

Believes this world as a temporary passing time therefore focuses more on accumulating rewards for afterlife which is permanent. “"O my people! This life of the present is nothing but (temporary) convenience: It is the Hereafter that is the Home that will last.” (TQM 40:39).

Most do not have strong belief in afterlife and as a result they try to enjoy their life here on earth by hook or by crook not fearing any divine retribution.

6

Peaceful and tolerant. “Those who show patience, Firmness and self-control; who are true (in word and deed); who worship devoutly; who spend (in the way of God); and who pray for forgiveness in the early hours of the morning.”(TQM 3:17).

9

Lives a simple life. “O ye who believe! Truly the Pagans are unclean; so let them not, after this year of theirs, approach the Sacred Mosque. And if ye fear poverty, soon will God enrich you, if He wills, out of His bounty, for God is All-knowing, All-wise.”(TQM 9:28).

10

Believes in all religions before Islam as continuation of divine guidance thus shows tolerance. “The Apostle believeth in what hath been revealed to him from his Lord, as do the men of faith. Each one (of them) believeth in God, His angels, His books, and His apostles. "We make no distinction (they say) between one and another of His apostles." And they say: "We hear, and we obey: (We seek) Thy forgiveness, our Lord, and to Thee is the end of all journeys."”(TQM 2:285).

Those who believe in a religion only believe in that particular religion discrediting the rest thus shows intolerance and narrow mindedness.

11

Believes being a member of s single brotherhood or ummah regardless of cultural and language barrier. It is due to present day politics and political government systems the ummah is divided with borders. “Mankind was one single nation, and God sent Messengers with glad tidings and warnings; and with them He sent the Book in truth, to judge between people in matters wherein they differed; but the People of the Book, after the clear Signs came to them, did not differ among themselves, except through selfish contumacy. God by His Grace Guided the believers to the Truth, concerning that wherein they differed. For God guided whom He will to a path that is straight.”(TQM 2:213).

Believes in nationalism and therefore have their own form of politics and governments based on culture and language differences. They believe that people are the source of power and governments should be formed by the people, of the people, for the people; thus not requiring any need for god.

12

Some may believe in existence of Satan but do not carry out any struggle (jihad) against it, nor do they really see it as a threat.

15

Believes that on the day of judgment all recorded acts will be shown and replayed in order to judge a person based on which a persons fate (of heaven and hell) will be determined. “On that Day will men proceed in companies sorted out, to be shown the deeds that they (had done).”(TQM 99:6).

Some may believe in a day of judgment but do not strongly believe to protect their activities from committing sins that may backfire on them one day.

16

Believes in mankind as a single nation. “O mankind! reverence your Guardian-Lord, who created you from a single person, created, of like nature, His mate, and from them twain scattered (like seeds) countless men and women;- reverence God, through whom ye demand your mutual (rights), and (reverence) the wombs (That bore you): for God ever watches over you.”(TQM 4:1).

Believes in class, sects, superiority and inferiority among the nations based on cultural and ethnical background leading to intolerance, discrimination, fascism and hate.

17

Believes in and follows the guidance in the Qur’an and Sunnah as a standard form of way of life regardless of geographic location. Some influence may be seen due to climatic and cultural difference, but the basic belief, philosophy and practices are similar. “And hold fast, all together, by the rope which God (stretches out for you), and be not divided among yourselves; and remember with gratitude God's favour on you; for ye were enemies and He joined your hearts in love, so that by His Grace, ye became brethren; and ye were on the brink of the pit of Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus doth God make His Signs clear to you: That ye may be guided.”(TQM 3:103).

But if one is forced by necessity, without wilful disobedience, nor transgressing due limits,- then is he guiltless. For God is Oft-forgiving Most Merciful.” (TQM 2:173).

Few are mindful about the matter of haram and halal. Pretty much have no control over diet and food intake habits other than health reasons (if any).

19

Believes that all humans are born Muslims but only due to their environment where they are born makes one a disbeliever. Therefore, believes in reversion of disbelievers to true religion (Islam) at any time. “Say: "O People of the Book! Come to common terms as between us and you: That we worship none but God; that we associate no partners with him; that we erect not, from among ourselves, Lords and patrons other than God." If then they turn back, say ye: "Bear witness that we (at least) are Muslims (bowing to God's Will).” (TQM 3:64).

Believe people are born “neutral” with no religious ties. Therefore, they are free to pick and choose any religion they like when they grow up using their own conscience. Usually looks down upon anyone with other religious beliefs and often try to convert people to their faith by hook or by crook. Demonstrates unwillingness to live and adjust with people of other faiths.

20

Believing men grows beard and wears lose fit simple outfits as a show of rejection and disinterest in worldly affairs. Believing women wears coverings (hijab) when in public. “And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband's fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their women, or the slaves whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex; and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. And O ye Believers! turn ye all together towards God, that ye may attain Bliss.” (TQM 24:31).

Usually clean shaven (men) and cosmetic makeup (women) loves to wear colorful tight fit garment showing off their body figures symbolizing sex and lust to attract opposite sex.

21

Do not believe in free mixing of sexes and considers out of wedlock sexual relationships immoral and punishable sin. “The woman and the man guilty of adultery or fornication, - flog each of them with a hundred stripes: Let not compassion move you in their case, in a matter prescribed by God, if ye believe in God and the Last Day: and let a party of the Believers witness their punishment.” (TQM 24:2).

22

Considers alcoholic or any intoxicating drinks to be harmful for body and soul and therefore do not consume. “O ye who believe! Intoxicants and gambling, (dedication of) stones, and (divination by) arrows, are an abomination,- of Satan's handwork: eschew such (abomination), that ye may prosper.” (TQM 5:90).

Considers alcoholic and intoxicating drinks to be beneficial and helpful for body and soul and therefore consumes them openly and socially.

23

Believes in equality of men and women before the law but has differences when it comes to authority and responsibility. “In the Law of Equality there is (saving of) Life to you, o ye men of understanding; that ye may restrain yourselves.” (TQM 2:179).

Believes in total equality of men and women (even physical) as a result we find disbelieving women entering armed forces along with men undergoing same training and programs.

24

Believing women are protected socially and financially as either her father or husband or brother or even male cousins are responsible to provide for her maintenance and sustenance as a result she gets to keep her part of wealth fully intact. See TQM Chapter 4: Women, verses 11, 12, and 176 as the verses are too long to quote.

Disbelieving women may inherit equal amount of wealth like a man but the society does not have any obligation to take care of her and she is left to be on her own.

25

Children are seen a ‘trust’ (amanah) from God and therefore requires careful upbringing so that they could carry on the legacy of Islam. “Lost are those who slay their children, from folly, without knowledge, and forbid food which God hath provided for them, inventing (lies) against God. They have indeed gone astray and heeded no guidance.” (TQM 6:140).

Children are seen as personal property and therefore they are reared as per parent’s own likings.

26

Islam is a complete way of life with the Qur’an as the constitution and Sunnah as the by-laws with a governance system called “Khilafah”; thus disallowing any scope for politics. “It is not fitting for a Believer, man or woman, when a matter has been decided by God and His Apostle to have any option about their decision: if any one disobeys God and His Apostle, he is indeed on a clearly wrong Path.” (TQM 33:36).

In the name of ‘democracy’ the Western world has developed a political government system that is basically run and controlled by few elites and powerful individuals as a group through rigged polls and elections. Controls mass people with media propaganda, lies and deceptions as we are witnessing it in the Western world today. A powerful hidden or shadow government runs all affairs through secret agendas (e.g., Freemasonry, Illuminati, Skulls & Bones, etc.)

TQM = Translated meaning of the Qur’an.
